About Virtual Innovation Academy

Don Tyson School of Innovation

High School: 9th - 12th Grades

High school students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled at VIA DTSOI can complete 100% of their classes online or can take advantage of a blended enrollment option spreading some time on-site at DTSOI. The Virtual Innovation Academy meets all district and state graduation requirements.

Full-Time Program: This full-time program is ideal for students who strive to earn credit advancement, have jobs outside of school, travel or have other specific health or family needs. Students may still participate in activities and clubs at DTSOI.

Blended Program: This blended approach allows students to take two to three online virtual classes through the Virtual Innovation Academy and then take the remaining course requirements at DTSOI - as space allows. This includes specialty electives like culinary, diesel, AV Tech & film, band, choir, orchestra, etc. Courses may require pre-approval, tryouts, etc. and enrollment is not guaranteed due to capacity. Students may also consider enrollment in concurrent credit college courses through Northwest Arkansas Community College or career and technical courses through the DTSOI NWTI partnership.

Students will use their school-issued Chromebooks to complete their assignments. Online learners are required to meet once a week with their advisory teacher on Zoom to discuss progress.
