Our last National School Counseling Week spotlight is Ms. Nina Woodall. Nina Woodall has been a counselor in Springdale schools for over 30 years. She has served the students of GJHS as school counselor for six years. When asked why being a school counselor is important she said, “School counselors listen. We listen to student, parent, staff concerns. We help facilitate identifying concern(s) and setting realistic goal steps in addressing those concern(s). We do NOT tell anyone how to think or feel, but rather guide them to be able to identify and understand the thing(s) keeping them from success in getting more of what they want - whether that is better grades, better relationships, better self-esteem, better well-being, etc.- making a plan and taking action. For me, being a counselor is not just a career path. It is a calling that comes from a higher place than myself. It enables me to be a part of a village of educators working collaboratively to meet the needs of our students, parents, staff and community. For this, I am most blessed.” We are so lucky to have Ms. Woodall at GJHS! Thank you for all that you do for our students! WE LOVE MS. WOODALL!

Wrangler Families: We are experiencing a high number of students who are tardy in the morning. We start school at 8:45. Students should be in their classrooms at 8:45. To accomplish this students should be dropped off by 8:30 am and quickly enter the building to get to class. We appreciate all the help we can get to have students arrive on-time to school.

This week is National School Counseling Week. We will be spotlighting one of our school counselors each day this week. Today's spotlight is Mrs. Andrea George. Andrea George, has served the students at GJHS as School Counselor for five years. When asked why being a counselor is important she said, “Being a counselor is important for lots of reasons. Counselors get to serve students in developing their emotional, social, mental, and academic well-being. Counselors are able to process things that happen in students' home lives, social circles, or academic journey with them and provide support that they may not have elsewhere. Working together, we get to figure out manageable ways to handle situations and develop solutions. I love being a school counselor! I love getting to serve both students and teachers as an extra support, a listening ear, and hopefully a reassuring presence.” We are so lucky to have Mrs. George at GJHS! Thank you for all that you do for our students! WE LOVE MRS. GEORGE!
