86 Advanced courses through AP, IB and concurrent classes.
Dr. Allen Williams, who has worked in several positions in the Springdale School District, has been named principal at J.O. Kelly Middle School. He replaces Sara Ford, who is retiring after 25 years as the school's principal.
"I've heard nothing but great things about the staff and students at J.O. Kelly," Williams said. "Sara Ford has been a model principal for 25 years. I look forward to getting to know the students and their families and to serve them. I'm grateful to Dr. Jared Cleveland, the administrative staff and the school board for this opportunity."
Ironically, Williams was selected to be the initial principal when J.O. Kelly opened. He was assistant principal at Springdale High and had been named J.O. Kelly principal while the school was under construction. However, he accepted a position as assistant superintendent at Vilonia and Ford was hired as principal.
"Allen Williams is a long time educator who brings stability," said Superintendent Dr. Jared Cleveland. "He's been a principal, assistant principal and superintendent. We are excited to have the opportunity to bring him back to Springdale."
A University of Central Arkansas graduate with a degree in education, with focus on math and chemistry, Williams earned his master's from UCA in secondary school leadership and his doctorate from the University of Arkansas in education administration.
Williams taught four years in Conway before moving to Springdale. He served two years as assistant principal at Southwest Junior High, then three years as assistant principal at Springdale High.
After his time as assistant superintendent at Vilonia, Williams was hired as principal at Springdale High. He was there four years, then became Assistant Superintendent for Finance for three years. He left to become Superintendent at Prairie Grove. #THEChoice
